How it works
Moshi tags every link it sends withutm_source=moshi. You can hide popups from Moshi shoppers with one or two targeting conditions in Alia:
Start with the URL condition. If you use Klaviyo, add the segment condition too.
Set up the rule
You create one targeting rule and attach it to each popup campaign. When you edit the rule later, every campaign that uses it updates automatically.1
Create a targeting rule
In the Alia dashboard, go to
Campaigns, then Targeting Rules, and select Create Rule.
Name it Hide for Moshi shoppers.2
Add the URL condition
Add the condition Is not on page(s), choose the full URL, select
Contains, and enter utm_source=moshi.3
Optional: add the segment condition
If you connected Klaviyo to Moshi, add the condition in Klaviyo segment, choose Moshi shoppers, and set it to exclude the segment.
4
Save the rule
Save the rule.
5
Apply the rule to every live campaign
For each live campaign, open
Targeting, select Add condition, then choose In targeting rule or campaign.
Choose Hide for Moshi shoppers, then select Save and Publish.
Include exit-intent campaigns, such as “Before you go” popups that appear when a shopper moves to leave the page.Alia doesn’t apply a rule to new campaigns automatically. When you create a new popup campaign, attach
Hide for Moshi shoppers to it.For the segment condition, Alia knows a visitor is in a Klaviyo segment only when Klaviyo’s cookie or pixel recognizes their browser on that visit.
Alia says segment rules reduce popups for known shoppers but can’t guarantee every one is hidden.
Before you add it, check in Klaviyo under
Lists & segments that Moshi shoppers is there and active.Test it
- Open an incognito window.
- Visit a product page on your store with
?utm_source=moshiadded to the end of the URL. - Trigger the popup. For exit-intent popups on desktop, move your mouse toward the browser tabs. The popup should not appear.
- Visit the same page without
?utm_source=moshiand trigger it again. The popup should appear as normal.
If the popup is hidden with the parameter and shown without it, your rule works.
Troubleshooting
The popup still shows on later pages for a Moshi shopper. This is expected for the URL condition: it only covers the landing page. If you use Klaviyo, add the segment condition to cover returning shoppers. Klaviyo still can’t recognize a shopper on their first visit. The popup shows to returning Moshi shoppers (Klaviyo users). Check that you added the segment condition, and thatSend funnel data to Klaviyo is turned on in Moshi’s Klaviyo integration. Moshi syncs shoppers once a day, so a shopper captured today joins the Moshi shoppers segment after the next sync.
The popup shows to customers who already subscribed or ordered.
That is a separate Alia setting. Alia can also hide popups for existing subscribers and returning visitors. Check the targeting conditions on each campaign.
I can’t find the Moshi shoppers segment in Alia.
The segment exists only if you connected Klaviyo to Moshi.
- Check that Alia is connected to the same Klaviyo account as Moshi.
- Refresh the Klaviyo integration in Alia so it loads your latest segments.
- If the segment is missing in Klaviyo, disconnect and reconnect Klaviyo in Moshi. Moshi creates the segment again.
- If Alia still shows no segments, create a test segment in Klaviyo. If it doesn’t appear in Alia either, contact Alia support about the connection.
