# Meta

> Connect Instagram and Messenger so Moshi can message customers and publish ads.

Moshi uses one Meta connection for Instagram, Messenger, and paid ads.
Connect Meta before you publish a [Paid Engagement Ad](https://docs.moshi.ai/flow-types/paid-engagement-ad.md) or [Listen on Instagram](https://docs.moshi.ai/flow-types/listen-on-instagram.md) flow.

## Requirements

Moshi shows only the requirements that apply to your selection.

| Requirement | When it applies |
| - | - |
| Admin role on a Meta Business portfolio | Always |
| An Instagram business or creator account linked to a Facebook Page | Always |
| An ad account and pixel for conversion tracking | When you keep `Paid messaging ads` on |

## Connect Meta

**1. Open Integrations**

Open `Settings` and select `Integrations`.
Select `Meta`.

**2. Choose the paid ads option**

Keep `Paid messaging ads` on to publish ads and receive conversion insights.
Turn it off when you only want Instagram and Messenger conversations.

**3. Authorize on Meta**

Select `Connect Meta`.
A window opens on `business.facebook.com`.
Grant the requested permissions and return to Moshi.

**4. Grant every asset**

Select your Facebook Page, your Instagram account, your ad account, and your pixel.
Moshi can only use the assets that you grant in this window.

**5. Select a page**

Moshi shows `Pick a Meta page` when your login has access to more than one page.
Select the page for this workspace and select `Connect page`.

> [!TIP]
>
> Meta is connected when the integration shows `Connected` and lists your Instagram account, Page, and ad account.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Grant the pixel in the Meta window.
> Meta presents the pixel as an optional asset and lets you continue without it.
> Moshi cannot report conversions against a pixel that you did not grant.

## What it powers

| Capability | What it does |
| - | - |
| Instagram | Turns comments and direct messages into qualified leads. |
| Messenger | Continues conversations in Facebook Messenger. |
| Paid messaging ads | Publishes click-to-message ads that open a Moshi conversation. |
| Conversion insights | Reports conversions against your granted pixel. |

> [!NOTE]
>
> A Moshi flow is different from a Meta campaign, ad set, or ad.
> Connecting Meta does not publish anything to Meta on its own.

## Connection states

| State | Meaning |
| - | - |
| `Connected` | Moshi can message and advertise on the granted assets. |
| `Connecting…` | Moshi is waiting for you to finish the Meta window. |
| `Disconnected` | No usable Meta connection. Flow types that need Meta stay gated. |

Moshi also shows a banner when a connected account needs attention.

| Banner | What to do |
| - | - |
| `Meta re-authorization required.` | Some permissions were dropped. Select `Re-authorize Meta` to restore full access. |
| `Message delivery isn't turned on.` | Moshi connected but cannot receive new direct messages. Select `Reconnect Meta` to finish setup. |
| `Finishing setup` | Moshi is turning on message delivery. This takes a few seconds. |

## Fix a broken connection

Reconnect Meta when the builder shows an account or permission error.
Reconnect Meta and grant the missing asset when a Page, Instagram account, ad account, or pixel is absent from the connected list.

Moshi cannot connect a page that another workspace already uses.
Re-run the connect flow and grant a different page when every page is taken.

An Instagram account also needs its Facebook Page granted.
Grant the Page in Meta when Moshi reports that an Instagram account cannot be connected yet.

To remove the connection, select `Disconnect` and confirm `Disconnect Instagram & Messenger?`.
